TokioHotel-Livenews is a blog I also frequently write on. It's a Danish blog mainly for the Danish fan crowd, but they also have many international visitors. This is one of my absolute favorite blogs out-there (hence the fact I'm blogging there too?), since they update 24/7 and do a lot of pictures. The fan-interaction is also amazing. They comment on a lot of posts, the messageboard. I reckon the blog is indeed alive because of the fans and readers. THLNS has approximately 200-300 visitors a day, which makes it one of the most viewed blogs out-there.
I asked the owner of the blog, Heidi, a few questions..
- When did you start the blog?I actually didn't start it, but someone else. The first post was released on 25th June 2009 and my first post was released the day after. So you could say I was a part of the blog from the beginning.
- Why did you start it?
As mentioned I didn't start it, it was a girl named Simone. She was asking for people to help her out with the blog, so I didn't hesitate. I can't really remember why I wanted to do it, but the blog was about Tokio Hotel which was probably the main reason ;-)
- How many bloggers are you?
In the beginning we were only two - and that was really tough! We were two bloggers for over a year. At this point we are 4 bloggers, who all blog frequently on a daily basis. I'm still not sure whether the owner of the blog will return.
- How do you feel about the way your blog has developed? Do you have bigger dreams for your blog?
In the beginning we were often accused of copying and stealing from another website, but aren't we all in the beginning? It was never supposed to seem as if we were stealing from them, but we really needed a place to start. Then we started to re-think our habits on the blog and got further more away from being a copycat blog. We have a few things on our blog, which we started (probably only in Denmark since we know a lot of foreign blogs has it too) - but we started doing "Picture of the day". I think our blog has developed in a very positive way. We try to satisfy everybody, but it can often be difficult since people tend to have different opinions. Our layout has changed drastically, but in a good way - and our readers have been so kind to guide
us too!
The meaning with our blog is that people can use it. That they feel they get something from reading it. We do publish a lot of posts, but when there aren't news, it's also important our readers have something to see/read/comment, so it doesn't turn our boring - then we lose readers.
What do you look for in an aspiring new blog? Many pictures? Videos? Fast on news? Things you didn't know or have seen before?
When I read a blog, it's very important that I can see it's being updated every day. If there aren't any news, then I want to see something else; photoshoots, funny videos, fanvideos etc. I also read blogs, who don't publish every day - but that's because when I'm the owner of a blog and need to find videos or old interviews - these blogs normally have those things.
The layout has to be clear and shouldn't take too much time or be to difficult to view. The blog shouldn't be too personal and private too - since that's not the reason why we read the blog, it's because of Tokio Hotel. So their fans have a place to go for news.
